    What To Expect From West Coast University Online Np Programs

    Admission Requirements: Applicants to the MSN and Post-Masters Certificate programs must have a prior cumulative GPA of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale plus proof of RN licensure in the state of practice. No GRE is required. Students in all programs must receive a recommendation for admittance from the Nursing Dean and committee members. An interview and handwritten essay evaluation are required. Application materials may include an application and fee, proof of unencumbered RN licensure, official transcripts, two letters of recommendation, and a resume or CV.

    State Restrictions: The West Coast University graduate nursing programs may not be available in all states. Students should check with the WCU School of Nursing as well as their state board of licensure to verify eligibility and to determine if the program meets state requirements for NP licensure.

    Study Plan: The MSN-FNP can be completed in nine trimesters which spans 36 months. The MSN-AGPCNP can be completed in 8 trimesters which spans 32 months. The RN to MSN-FNP program takes about 40 months to complete. The FNP Post-Masters Certificate can be completed in 24 months, and the AGPCNP certificate can be completed in 20 months. Programs begin in the Fall, Spring, and Summer.

    FNP students also take Primary Care Pediatric Patient Theory and Practicum.

Official transcripts which meet the RN to BSN prerequisites set forth, must be received by the end of the add/drop period in order to be admitted into the program.
  • Applicants with a valid license may be admitted with approved documentation of an earned high school degree or equivalent pending receipt of official transcripts of the nursing degree. Official transcripts must be submitted to document program completion.
  • *All students must have a current and unobstructed license in the United States prior to entering the third trimester of the program an unobstructed license is required for degree completion and will be verified again prior to entering the practicum course. Failure to present a valid RN license will result in dismissal from the university until such time license is current and unobstructed.

    Rn To Bsn Transfer Credits

    The RN to BSN program awards 42 transfer credits for an unobstructed current RN license issued in the United States and up to 42 credits of general education transfer credits .

    Students enrolled in the RN to BSN program are exempt from specific general education requirements. There is no science recency requirement for RN to BSN students.

    Students who are requesting transfer credit for courses in the core curriculum must submit official transcripts by the first day of the first term in which the student commences his or her education at West Coast University.

    Students requesting additional general education transfer credits must provide official transcripts no later than six months after the start of the semester in which the student commences his or her education at the University. Only college-level coursework will be considered for transfer credit. All coursework must have been taken at an institution accredited by an agency recognized by the United States Department of Education.

    Note: A student may have the option of taking a Prior Learning Assessment course if he/she does not have sufficient college-level credits required to meet the 120 credits required for graduation with this degree program. Prior Learning Assessment is not subject to this policy as credit earned from Prior Learning Assessment is done in conjunction with enrollment in the appropriate West Coast University course.
