About Nursing At Valencia College

This program is designed for students who seek employment in the field of nursing and who may decide to continue to any Florida public university as a junior to complete a four-year Bachelors degree in Nursing through R.N. to B.S.N. Program. Students wishing to transfer any credits from this program to another institution must accept responsibility for securing approval from the transfer institution.

Graduates of this program are prepared to administer nursing care as general staff nurses and are eligible to take the National Council Licensure Exam to become registered nurses. According to the laws governing state licensure, any candidate who has been arrested or convicted of any offense other than minor traffic violations will be required to petition the Board of Nursing for permission to sit for the licensing exam. Completion of the program does not ensure permission to sit for the licensing exam.

Effective Fall 2022

The Associate in Science, Nursing has implemented changes based on State of Florida Rule 6A-10.04213, which impacts General Education requirements for degree graduation, as well as the Fall 2023 ASN admission criteria. See the catalog and Program Guide for additional details.

  • Students must meet the minimum requirements in order to apply, however, this doesnot guarantee acceptance.

Effective Summer 2022

The Traditional Nursing program will no longer have a first-come, first-serve admission process, and there will not be a waitlist. The program has changed to a selective, points-based admission. Eligible students are required to apply for the term of interest for admission consideration and must reapply if not selected for program acceptance.

For the new admission process, applicants will be ranked by points earned in prerequisite coursework and by ATI TEAS Composite score points . The program will continue to require an overall GPA of 3.0, as well as a prerequisite GPA of 3.0.
