At Chamberlain Houston, you gain hands-on experience in our SIMCARE CENTER and at our on-site clinical setting. You will work with classmates, faculty, mentors, and seasoned registered nurses as you learn skills in direct patient-care nursing. The SIMCARE CENTER features various aspects of simulated care, giving you the chance to practice fundamental nursing skills on high-tech patient manikins. Patient simulators have bodily functions and vital signs, and they show a multitude of symptoms. You can practice your nursing skills in a safe health care setting before moving on to real-life patients in the clinicals portion of the Chamberlain curriculum

Master Of Science In Nursing
MSN prepared students to become leaders in their field. At the University of Houston-Sugar Land, the University of Houston-Main, and University of Houston-Victoria campuses, students can become prepared for a role as a Nurse Educator, Nurse Administrator, or as a Family Nurse Practitioner.
Travel is required each semester within the UH service area which includes Victoria, Fort Bend, and the greater Houston area will be necessary to satisfy program requirements.
Note: School of Nursing graduates may apply for graduate admission through NursingCAS for the Nurse Administrator, Nurse Educator, or Nurse Practitioner tracks. School of Nursing graduates may qualify for a waived Graduate Record Examination or Miller Analogies Test if GPA is 3.3 or higher.

University Of Houston College Of Nursing Opens Clinic For Homeless And Working Poor
The University of Houston College of Nursing is providing health care services to Houstons homeless population and the working poor at its first nurse-managed health clinic in the citys Midtown neighborhood.
Located at the Abraham Station on the campus of St. Pauls United Methodist Church at 5401 Fannin Street, the clinic draws patients from those who visit the food pantry and clothing center operated by the Emergency Aid Coalition thats housed at the church.
They feed 250 people per day, said UH College of Nursing Dean Kathryn Tart, EdD, MSN, RN. Its very vibrant work that they do.
The EAC is an interfaith effort supported by the members of fifteen churches, mosques and synagogues. Its been helping those in need for nearly 40 years.
The working poor come to get groceries and clothing. The homeless come for sack lunches, said Shainy Varghese, UH associate professor of nursing, nurse practitioner and clinic director.
Now, healthcare is available at the same location.
Patients who come to the clinic with other intricate medical conditions can also utilize telehealth and be treated virtually by a physician or nurse practitioner who is working at another location. The referring doctor assesses the injury and quickly provides a treatment plan.
The use of Telehealth became commonplace when the pandemic struck, as many doctors chose to see patients virtually, but long before COVID-19 Varghese understood the value of integrating virtual technology with medicine.

The College of Nursing Advisors would advise undergraduate students to take the letter grade you earned. Letter grades are important for your future. As you apply into competitive programs, such as nursing, you will need a grade. When you apply to competitive nurse residency programs after graduating from your nursing program, grades matter to the employer. When you apply to graduate programs to get a masters or doctoral degree, grades on your transcript matter..
Make a good decision for your future. Study hard and make good grades so you do not have to retake courses. Your patients deserve the very best.

Night and weekend nursing school students complete courses outside the typical classroom schedule while still receiving the same level of support and resources as traditional weekday students.
Whichever path you take at the Chamberlain Houston campus, your advantages include:

Weekend and night nursing program courses are limited to students enrolled in a Houston evening/weekend cohort. Students in evening/weekend cohorts are limited to enrolling in courses during the evening/weekend only.

Welcome to the fall 2019 semester at the University of Houston College of Nursing were our theme for the year is Growing in Excellence.
We are delighted to expand our teaching and training of new nurses on the new UH at Katy instructional site. We admitted our first cohort of 16 Traditional BSN students in the new building this fall. Traditional BSN students take their freshman and sophomore years at UH on Cullen Blvd., and the Junior and Senior years at UH at Katy. We are teaching our MSN in nursing administration, nursing education and family nurse practitioner students at UH at Katy to help grow the program in the Katy region. We thank our Provost, Dr. Paula Short, and Chancellor, Dr. Renu Khator, for their vision and leadership. The growth of the College of Nursing in the new building is a gift from the state of Texas to the University of Houston System to provide us the opportunity to teach an excellent nursing program with excellent faculty, staff, healthcare partners, donors to the excellent students who select the University of Houston College of Nursing. Uh College Of Nursing Celebrates New Graduates
The University of Houston College of Nursing conferred degrees on 105 students in a virtual graduation and pinning ceremony that marked the end of a challenging year for students and faculty.
Kathryn Dean, Professor, Founding Dean and Humana Endowed Deans Chair in Nursing, acknowledged the unprecedented times presented by Covid-19the move to online classes, the need to find alternate ways for students to satisfy clinical hours and the search to stay positive and motivated throughout the year. Still, she said resilience and dedication marked their academic journey, and will follow them into their professional life.

University Of Houston College Of Nursing Presents First State Of The College Address
Kathryn Tart is the dean of the University of Houston College of Nursing.
The University of Houston College of Nursing, with campuses in Katy and Sugar Land, presented its accomplishments from 2015-2020 in a virtual address last week for supporters and staff.
In its first-ever State of the College address, professor and founding dean Kathryn Tart talked about the college from its beginning through 2020.
The state of the college is strong, Tart said, according to a news release.
Tart reported that the college has been steadily growing students, faculty and programs since it became the 17th U of H college in 2015. The main campus for the College of Nursing is at the University of Houston at Sugar Land instructional site.
According to Tart, the faculty at the college has increased from 12 in 2015 to 20 in 2020. They have researched and have more than 40 publications and presentations to their credit. To date, the college has raised more than $846,000 in grant funding.
Currently, there are three tracks for students seeking a bachelor of science in nursing, including the traditional BSN which debuted at the Katy instructional site in 2019.
