The Johns Hopkins School of Nursing is ranked among the top three MSN, DNP, and online nursing programs by U.S. News & World Report. The school has also earned three consecutive NLN Center of Excellence designations for enhancing student learning and professional development. Johns Hopkins educates approximately 1,200 diverse nursing students, including 500 fulltime and 700 parttime students. The university recently transitioned from a prelicensure BSN program to a direct entry MSN program. The first three graduating classes of the direct entry MSN have scored a stellar 94% NCLEX pass rate. Johns Hopkins offers two other MSN tracks, a DNP with seven advanced practice specializations, and a doctor of philosophy in nursing.
What Can You Do As A Nurse Practitioner
Thanks to their advanced training and education, NPs hold more clinical autonomy than RNs. NPs make key decisions in patient care and serve as primary caregivers, much like physicians. HATTIESBURG, Miss. – The University of Southern Mississippis masters and doctoral nursing programs are ranked best in the state by the U.S. News & World Reports 2021 Best Graduate School Rankings.
A few weeks ago, we brought you a story about a nurse practitioner student concerned about the quality of education she received. She was enrolled in a masters degree program at a New York-based school.
Here in the Pine Belt, USMs program is recognized among the best in the country.
The two-year program offers two tracks, family nurse practitioner and psychiatric mental health nurse practitioner. Its a rigorous effort to be accepted as students must have at least one year of nursing experience to be considered.
One student considers the intensity of the program to be a good thing.
Its just my belief that if youre going to do a graduate education, it should be challenging, said Robert Ware, who recently completed the program. Its not something that is spoon-fed to you. It is something that you have to have self-initiative in and the program and the curriculum offer and support itself initiative, while at the same time if I ran into any roadblocks they were there to support and help me.
Although COVID-19 has changed the way the school operates, officials say its not changing the quality of education the students receive.

If you already have your MSN but are not an NP you can complete a certificate program to train you to be an NP. This may be the right path for you if you have your MSN in something like nursing education, nursing administration, or if you are a clinical nurse specialist. Although admission requirements vary by program, requirements for online and on-campus MSN programs are generally the same. Students typically need a BSN to enroll in an MSN-NP program. Unless they are applying to a direct-entry MSN program, prospective students must also hold an active RN license.
Usually, students with bachelor’s degrees in nursing meet prerequisites for MSN programs while earning their degree. However, some programs specify that students must complete undergraduate coursework in specific subjects, such as statistics. Students who do not have a bachelor’s degree in nursing may be required to complete bridge credits as part of their coursework.

ASUs program ranked No. 29 in the nation and is one of only four programs at Texas schools to make the rankings list. Only accredited nursing programs were considered for the list, and other criteria included tuition cost, acceptance rates, and quality of online course delivery, technology and support.
The ASU Department of Nursing initiated its online M.S.N/FNP program in the fall of 2010 with 10 students in the first class. It has expanded significantly since then with 64 students currently enrolled.
