After Graduating From Our Houston Nursing Program

University of Texas @ Arlington/UTA RN-BSN/ONLINE/ACCELERATED PROGRAM

Graduates of Houston Baptist Universitys nursing school are highly sought by employers, and they have a wide range of high compensation nursing employment opportunities. Traditional hospital employment offers a BSN-prepared RN the opportunity to work with patients of all ages. Graduates can also choose to work in an area of specialization such as intensive care, labor and delivery, pediatrics, mental health or surgery. In the community, our graduates go into such settings as home healthcare, hospice care, school nursing and more. The BSN program comprehensively prepares the student for graduate study. Our graduates include those who have continued their education to become advanced practice nurses following completion of the MSN degree, nurse administrators, and some choose to obtain a PhD degree in nursing as well.

Blended Program Fast Tracks Nurses

May 4, 2020 DENTON Alexis Jennings is taking a big leap toward her dream job of becoming a chief nursing officer this spring by earning a bachelors degree in less time that it took many of her peers.

In May, Jennings will be among the very first graduates of a joint nursing program between Texas Womans University and North Central Texas College that allows students to shave up to a year off the typical time to a bachelors degree.

Under the program, NCTC nursing students have the option of simultaneously completing a bachelors degree at TWU, allowing them to fulfill requirements in less time.

A common pathway for many students to earn a baccalaureate degree in nursing is to complete an associates degree in nursing, then apply to an RN-BSN program to move toward a baccalaureate nursing degree. Admission is competitive in both programs, and students often must stop-out in between degrees, lengthening the time to completion.

The collaborative offering between Texas Womans and NCTC provides a more direct path to a Bachelors of Science in Nursing degree. In this innovative program, students work concurrently toward the associates degree at NCTC and the bachelors degree at TWU, which allows students to complete both degrees within four years.

For Jennings, earning both degrees in the seamless program allows her to be a practicing nurse sooner and on a path to earning an advanced degree, which she hopes to one day parlay into a top nursing position at a hospital.

Why You Should Care About The Nursing Programs Accreditation

You might not know much about accreditation, but its critical when looking at nursing schools. If a school doesnt have the right accreditation, you wont be eligible to take the NCLEX and become a registered nurse. Also, finding a job could prove to be much more difficult.

The two nursing accreditation organizations to look for are
