Unfortunately, if there is one area that trips up many qualified applicants, it is the TEAS. Often, applicants assume that because they have the GPA needed to get into nursing school, they will be able to pass the TEAS without studying. However, that is a big mistake.
It is recommended that you spend several weeks preparing for the TEAS. Luckily, there are a number of resources available, both online and in print. Additionally, the exams creator, Assessment Technologies Institute, offers a number of study packages, as do some third parties. Just remember that in dealing with third-party resources, and especially free resources, you need to do your homework to make sure they are high quality.
Are Nursing Prerequisites Hard
The answer to this question depends on several factors, such as a professor’s teaching style, the number of assignments, and the level of interest or skill for the subject matter. Some nursing students may find classes harder than others, doing well in a biology course, for example, but struggling with statistics.

Determine Which Type Of Nurse You Want To Be
While nursing may seem like a straightforward profession on the surface, there are a number of different levels and specialties within the field. The quickest path to becoming a nurse is becoming a licensed practical nurse . If you decide to go the LPN route, you will be qualified to administer medicine, check patients vital signs and perform a variety of tasks under a supervising registered nurse .
If youre looking for more medical duties, becoming an RN could be a more suitable path to take. RNs serve as a direct link to patients, expertly coordinating necessary medical care, education and support. You can become an RN with an Associates Degree in Nursing .
Some RNs also opt to obtain a Bachelors of Science in Nursing . BSN-qualified nurses often perform the same duties as those with an ADN, but they are also qualified for more leadership and management positions. Once youve earned your BSN, you still have options to advance your nursing career by pursuing a Master of Science in Nursing degree , an excellent option for those whod like to work in leadership or teaching positions within the field of nursing.
Each of these education levels includes a multitude of types of nursing positions. Doing some research into these opportunities can help you identify a career path that aligns with your personal skills and interests. From there, you can determine how much of an educational commitment youll need.

For Reading, the hard part of the TEAS test for many students includes working with long passages, logical conclusions, and the time pressure of this section. To get a passing score on this section, its a good idea to plan for three types of questions.
First, youll have questions that require understanding the overall big picture of a passage. Youll need strategies to find the answer quickly so that you dont get overwhelmed by a giant passage.
Second, youll have questions that focus on specific words or details. Many times, you dont need to read the full passage. Instead, you can use specific strategies for specific question types.
Third, youll have questions that require you to use different sources, charts, and graphs. Memorizing types of primary, secondary, and tertiary sources can help you with these TEAS test Reading questions.

Try To Read Before Class
This can be hard. However, if you start off doing this from the beginning the payoff will be great. If you read before class, the lecture becomes the second time you have come into contact with the material. Then you are able to be more efficient in class. You can then focus on the information covered in the lecture because you have a foundation for the lecture.
Your note-taking will be better because you wont have to try to write down every little thing because you will find you already know and understand some of the material. Also, you wont be afraid that something is covered in class thats not in the book because you already know whats in the book.
When you have this foundation you can listen more than you write and have the perfect notes for exams.
