- Students are required to complete an American Heart Association BLS Provider course prior to clinical experiences. Students are required to maintain a current CPR card to comply with affiliating agency requirements. Must be completed to be accepted to the program.
- All students must successfully complete a DHS approved Nursing Assistant course prior to program entry.

As COVID-19 upended the world, Kylie Olson and several other UW-Eau Claire nursing majors worked with the Aging and Disability Resource Center in Eau Claire to check on its 300 clients. The Blugolds contacted the seniors, who rely on Meals on Wheels, to make sure they had access to food during the crisis. They were also able to provide care and reassurance to the seniors during a stressful time.
It was extremely rewarding to hear how grateful each person was that we were calling and checking in on them, Kylie said. I am very thankful for the opportunity we had to touch people’s lives and I am excited to carry that into my career as a nurse.
Kylie feels confident as she begins her career in health care because she knows her time as a Blugold prepared her so well.
