A Toolbox For Your Road To Registered Nurse
Leverage resources dedicated to your academic success
Ask a Chamberlain BSN student their secret to success and youre likely to hear a common response: they take advantage of all the resources available to support their nursing BSN journey. With the challenges of the COVID-19 pandemic, youll now have access to additional virtual tools and support.
Take advantage of group course content review sessions or one-one-reviews led by content experts. Ask questions of other BS nursing students, or spend time with an expert going through a recent test to truly understand questions you might have missed.
The NCLEX-RN® Exam is too important to cram for. Youll start to prepare during your courses, with access to tutorials, assessments, practice tests and comprehensive support and planning tools. All are integrated into your BS in nursing curriculum so you feel confident on exam day.
As a nurse, your patient encounters will require you to perform a history, identify and prioritize issues and interventions, and much more. When you care for a virtual i-Human patient, youll get experience with these skills in a safe environment as you work towards your bachelors degree.

Choosing The Best Rn Program For You
Where you complete your RN program can help shape your future career in nursing and other health sciences. Your undergraduate degree can also influence which advanced practice degrees you choose to pursue later.
First you have to choose between a bachelor of science in nursing or an associate degree in nursing program. More and more employers require new nurses to have a BSN, though many will also hire ADNs who agree to complete their BSNs over the next couple years.
Youll also need to consider the economic side of each degreein some cases, it may be more affordable to get your ADN so you can start working as a nurse, then enroll to get your BSN online and qualify for employer tuition assistance but in other cases, it may actually be faster and more affordable to go straight for your BSN if thats your ultimate goal

Then youll have to decide whether to enroll in a large or small nursing school, an accelerated or four-year degree, and much more. Each factor can influence your career.
Any given program might not work for some students but could be perfect for you. Nursing schools are intentionally different to best educate specific students.
The demands of your current life will also influence your choices. More and more leading universities offer online RN programs, especially in the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic.

What Are The Prerequisites For The Bsn Accelerated Programs
Besides having a bachelors degree, many accelerated programs require a number of core prerequisite courses. Common subjects include microbiology, statistics, and sometimes anatomy and physiology. If it has been a few years since you completed these courses, be sure to check if the school requires the classes to be taken within a certain amount of years.
Most programs have an entrance exam as a requisite for entering the nursing program, and the same holds true for accelerated applicants. The entry exam covers the subjects that are needed for entry to nursing school: math, reading, science, and English. Whether its the HESI, ATI, or TEASE, there are many resources to help you review and score well on the entrance exam.
GPA is an important consideration for accelerated BSN programs, as many programs will require a minimum GPA for application. Usually, the minimum GPA for consideration into the program ranges from 3.0 to 3.5.

Prospective students without the proper prerequisites may complete general education credits prior to starting.

Doctorate In Nursing Programs
The doctor of philosophy and doctor of nursing practice are the two most common doctoral degrees in nursing. The PhD is a research-based degree and trains nurses to function as researchers and academics. Most nurses possessing a PhD serve as faculty in universities.
Earning a DNP gives graduates the resources and training needed to work at the highest possible level in clinical organizations. DNP holders typically command higher salaries, and commonly find work as nurse practitioners, university professors, or chief nursing officers.
Students usually spend 2-4 years enrolled, depending on the type of degree they held previously. Those who already possess MSNs graduate more quickly than those with bachelor’s degrees in nursing. Most DNP graduates possess APRN licensure.
RNs interested in a terminal nursing degree can enroll into BSN-to-DNP programs, which allow graduates to qualify for the most elite roles in the field. BSN-to-DNP programs groom students to provide local colleges and universities may offer BSN-to-DNP programs. However, students can also access online programs.
RNs exploring nursing degrees that offer a high return on their investment may want to consider MSN-to-DNP programs. This applied degree offers advanced clinical knowledge and skills that allow graduates to provide excellent patient care. Students also learn about healthcare policies and leadership skills that help healthcare organizations thrive.

How To Choose The Best Nursing School For You
While we thought these were the top nursing schools of 2022 the best nursing school for you may not be on this list. Spend time researching various nursing schools to make sure that you’re making the best decision for your personal situation.
Create a list of potential schools and, using factors mentioned on this page, rank your set of schools to find the best option.
If youre looking for a specific career path such as public health or informatics, make sure the schools youre considering can address these needs.
And, of course, find a school that works within the limits of your current life. You may not be able to move across the country to enroll at a Duke, Emory, or Georgetown.
Chances are good you can find a great program with caring faculty and great clinical experiences in your region.
Paying For Nursing School

While costs may seem steep, most nursing students end up paying much less thanks to financial aid.
Some forms of financial aid for nursing students include:
- Student loans
- Student Loan Forgiveness
Students worried about the cost of programs can always begin by getting their ADN. ADNs can be completed at community colleges, which typically charge much lower tuition rates than four-year colleges and universities. Doing this can save students thousands of dollars.
BSN programs, on the other hand, typically cost more than ADN programs and take twice as long to complete. However, BSN programs help nurses find higher-paying positions. Students with enough financial aid would have a hard time justifying an ADN program over a BSN program.
Which choice is a better financial decision? That depends on the student. Talk with a financial advisor to decide the best choice, and let each school’s financial aid office know you’re looking for help with the cost of your nursing degree.
If you couldnt possibly afford to stay in school for four years, you could go for an ADN and then complete your BSN after starting your career in patient care.
A lot of employers offer tuition assistance for ADN nurses working toward their BSN degrees. In exchange for helping pay tuition, the employer may require you to commit to staying on the job for a few years.

What Courses Would I Study At Mcgill
Students take a variety of courses within the biological, social, and nursing sciences – the McGill University calendar lists the various courses in our program as well at their descriptions. Most students tell us our program is difficult but manageable – our most recent graduates have written comments like I had to work really hard and at times wondered if I could do it – now that I am finished, I am so proud of what I have done! I didn’t come to McGill University because I thought it would be easy – I came because I wanted a challenge and I knew I could do it. As with any program, some students find certain things easier or more difficulty – the Ingram School of Nursing and the University offer students as much support as possible to help with any difficulties.
