Medical Campus Center For Learning Innovation & Simulation
To accommodate current and future growth of academic and research programs, provide easier access and provide a visible identity for Health Sciences education on campus and within their system, Miami Dade College expanded their Medical Campus to include a new home for their health sciences and nursing programs. The Center for Learning, Innovation and Simulation includes state-of-the-art classrooms and labs to simulate a real-world hospital environment. Key goals for the project were to not only to enable the College to expand offerings to students, but to increase the number of health care partnerships in the community in order to better serve the Miami area. Kahler Slater served as the health sciences education architect to provide programming, planning and design expertise in partnership with local firm, Harvard Jolly.
The new building houses the medical schools nursing and physician assistant programs. The center also is available for health care organizations and companies to use for training and research. Active learning classrooms, lecture classrooms and an auditorium provide the College a wide offering of space to accommodate various teaching styles. The Simulation Center includes high-fidelity simulation hospital/patient rooms, a 5-side cave, virtual reality space, standardized patient exam spaces, debrief rooms, and partner/sponsor space. Wet labs, PT/OT/PA labs, radiology suite and student study break out spaces are also included.

The College’s BSN program for Florida-licensed registered nurses who have already earned an Associate in Science degree in Nursing opens doors to career advancement and post-baccalaureate education through a focus on nursing practice, cultural awareness, leadership training, and management skills.

Students accepted to the Associate of Science in Nursing program at Miami Dade College may apply for the Baptist Health Nurse Scholars Program. Over a period of four semesters, participants of this joint program will participate in didactic and clinical experiences within Baptist Health facilities as both students and as Scholar Nurse Partners. Scholar Nurse Partners is a per-diem employment opportunity for students to shadow an experienced nurse on a preassigned unit.
Students accepted into the Baptist Health Nurse Scholars Programs are provided a scholarship towards school tuition. This amount is paid directly to the university, and students are responsible for additional fees as determined by the school.
