Youre One Step Closer To Post

Earn Your MSN Without a BSN Degree

One of the biggest benefits to earning your masters in nursing through Marquettes Direct Entry MSN program is that it gets you one step closer to your post-masters certification, which opens up more opportunities for you once you graduate and pass the NCLEX exam, both professionally and financially.

Our degree allows you to advance in the healthcare industry, says Rob Hayworth, Admissions Adviser, Marquette Direct Entry MSN program. My job is to find out what a students goal is and help them carve a path that will allow them to achieve it. For instance, many students use this program as their first step toward becoming a nurse practitioner . So when a potential student who has a goal of becoming an NP asks me why this route is better than earning a BSN, I always ask With a BSN how are you going to get to become a nurse practitioner? You have to get your masters degree.

Once I earn my degree, I want to continue in a nurse practitioner role. But first, I want to work in an emergency room because Im interested in acute care settings.

-George Vanags, Direct Entry MSN student

This being a generalist direct entry program yet we touch on the aspects of clinical nurse leadership and nurse educator, says Rob. We want you to see aspects of the field so if you elect to, you can continue your education and go on to become a nurse practitioner. We have those options, whereas, at a BSN level, you are going to have to advance into a masters to get to your goal.
