The Doctor of Nursing Practice degree is the terminal practice degree for the profession of nursing. The impetus for enhancing graduate education for practicing clinicians includes an increasingly complex healthcare environment, explosive growth in knowledge of science and therapeutics, quality and safety concerns, and financial pressures driving efficiency efforts.

The Doctor of Nursing Practice degree is a 30 credit hour program that builds upon advanced clinical skills with coursework on quality improvement, evidence-based performance, and systems approaches to meeting the health care needs of the public. The DNP coursework is available 100% online, allowing for convenience and maximum flexibility around nurses and healthcare professionals work schedules.

Each Doctor of Nursing Practice student must complete a minimum of 1000 post BSN residency hours. Qualified students may transfer in up to 496 MSN-level practicum hours toward the 1000-hour requirement.Attendance at a minimum of two DNP Immersions will be a requirement for graduation from the Doctor of Nursing Practice Program. Olivet Nazarene University Department Of Nursing

The Department of Nursing at Olivet Nazarene University offers Master of Science in Nursing programs in three specializations/roles. MSN programs are offered in the following areas:

Two pathways to a Master of Science in Nursing are offered through Millikin Universitys School of Nursing: a traditional BSN to MSN pathway as well as a Direct Entry pathway called the Masters Entry in Nursing Practice: Pre-licensure program .

Those non-nurses who hold a Bachelors degree in a non-nursing field who are interested in entering the field of nursing can do so through the Direct Entry MENP-PL program. The program prepares students to take the National Council of State Board of Nursing Licensure Exam in any state so that they can become an RN as well as the Clinical Nurse Leader certification exam.

Those RNs who already hold a BSN can choose from two MSN programs:

Applicants entering via the Direct Entry/MENP-PL pathway are required to hold a Bachelors degree in a non-nursing discipline with a 3.25 cumulative GPA on a 4.0 scale. Those with lower GPAs must take the GRE. Candidates must have completed several pre-requisite undergraduate courses including Organic Chemistry, Anatomy & Physiology 1, Anatomy & Physiology 2, Microbiology, Principles of Psychopathology , graduate level Statistical Methods, Introduction to Psychology, and Lifespan Development.

Lewis Begins Appointment As Lead Nurse Practitioner

Ryan Lewis, MSN, RN, FNP-BC, was appointed the lead nurse practitioner at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill Adams School of Dentistry. In his role, Lewis will begin to integrate primary care services and consultation into the schools patient care operations.

The UNC Adams School of Dentistry is leading the way in providing whole person healthcare to its patients by having Ryan Lewis and integrating primary care services and consultation for patients at the school, said Director of Interprofessional Education and Practice, Katharine Ciarrocca, DMD, MSEd.

He is part of a team who can essentially provide, one stop healthcare where he can diagnose and manage acute and chronic conditions in our patients, therefore enabling them to be able to both complete their dental care and be healthier overall.

Lewis holds a Master of Science degree in Nursing Education, and has received post-master certification as a Family Nurse Practitioner from Gardner-Webb University. He has served both community college and university nursing programs, and most recently was working as a FNP in retail health.

    Two pathways to a Master of Science in Nursing are offered by the Saint Francis Medical Center College of Nursing. They offer both an Accelerated RN to MSN pathway and a traditional BSN to MSN pathway.

    The Accelerated RN to MSN pathway is designed for diploma or Associates prepared Registered Nurses who hold a non-nursing Bachelors. They are required to have completed 62 hours of pre-nursing liberal arts and science coursework and are awarded 31 hours of professional credits for their nursing experience. Five bridge courses must be completed prior to transitioning to the Masters level coursework.
