Attend A Nursing Information Session

Many schools will provide nursing information sessions for prospective students who are looking to learn more about their program. In fact, some of them require it if you plan to enroll in courses at their school.

At these sessions, youll have the opportunity to meet some important members of the faculty, you will learn more about the nursing school requirements and what you can expect from that particular program. Youll also have the chance to ask any additional questions you may have. Even if this isnt technically a requirement for your school of choice, its always a good idea to familiarize yourself with the program and gather additional information.

I Just Completed This First Semester At

I just completed this first semester at Rasmussen and I am contemplating changing colleges while now before I waste all my time, money and energy. I completed pathophysiology, all my assignments were at 100% however my exam scores were below the 78% threshold. Therefore I failed the entire class. I missed this by 4 questions. First this class is taught soley online, the instructor taught from power points that had minimally covered the context on the exams. I attended each and every class, did my reading and felt fairly confident I would do well had I not I would have dropped like the rest did. That’s the other point about 1/2 the class dropped right away the ones that stayed lots failed. They won’t show or tell you what you got wrong. You are left with the option of moving forward, retaking the class and hope to hell to don’t fail another cause then you are kicked out of the program and all your time and money gone, you simply can’t transfer these credits. I feel that if your going to commit to Rasmussen they should give you options to complete the program fully. I am just questioning this school – to me it seems that are just taken your money. Personally I am not sure I want to travel down that road.

We Asked Students What’s Your Overall Opinion Of This School

ANNA

I really like Rasmussen’s nursing program. Not only is it easy to apply too. But you honestly feel like you’re getting your moneys worth with the care the teachers display in truly teaching the students. Not many teachers will go out of their way to prove several links for different learning types to honestly help each one of pass.

My program advisors was really supported when i talked to him about going back to school he helped me with step by step guidance in helping me with all my paper work and guiding me through how to operate the online classes i need to take in order to be similar with the online class.

Rebecca

I absolutely love Rasmussen!!

JAZMYN

I like how the classes are smaller in order to have more one-on-one time. I also like how the teachers in the school are, they are very nice and hands-on, if needed. I also like how Rasmussen College has a Registered Nursing program that lasts a year and seven months because that means I can get my job sooner and start my future.

Apply To Your Chosen Programs

Once youve determined the type of nurse youd like to become and have identified some programs that meet your criteria, its time to start applying to nursing schools. Filling out an application can seem daunting, but just remember that every nurse who came before you had to clear the same hurdle.

Also note that many nursing hopefuls find it useful to block off a few hours when it comes time to fill out an application. You will need to pay close attention to the application guidelines and any supplemental materials required of you, such as essays and letters of recommendation.

Be sure to also pay close attention to any deadlines listed on the programs website and, if at all possible, submit your application early it can help reinforce your eagerness and commitment, while also showing the school that youre both prepared and reliable. This will also provide you with some extra time for the program personnel to contact you if any supplemental application materials are needed before the deadline.

Rasmussen College Master of Science in Nursing Program Earns ...

The Hagerstown Community College Foundation recently received a $27,000 donation from the children of Donna Lou Rasmussen, to create a scholarship in her memory.

The Donna Rasmussen Nursing Scholarship has been established to assist students that are majoring in nursing and have at least a 2.5 GPA. Preference will be given to those with financial need.

Its been slightly over a year since we lost our dear mother. To honor her lifetime of service, her family has created the Donna Rasmussen Nursing Scholarship at Hagerstown Community College, said son Jeff Rasmussen. Just like her tireless efforts, this endowment will work in perpetuity to provide scholarships for deserving students in HCCs Nursing Programa highly rated program with impressive credentials, awards, and graduation rates.

Donna was a career long nurse who lived a humble life of service to her family and community. She worked in the hospital setting early in her career, then at Reeders Memorial Home in Boonsboro, and then in private medical practices. Identify The Level Of Nursing Education Youll Need

As you inch closer toward determining the type of nurse youd like to become, youll want to start looking into the specifics surrounding the educational commitment that will be expected of you. If youre looking to become an LPN, for example, you can earn your diploma in as few as 12 months.*

If youre more partial to the job responsibilities and opportunities that could await you as an RN, you can earn your ADN in as few as 18 months, while the traditional BSN route is more likely to take as few as 33 months.* If youve already obtained a bachelors degree in a different field and youd like to pursue a BSN as your second degree, you can complete a program in closer to 18 months.*

There is also an option for practicing RNs who are not yet baccalaureate-qualified to earn a BSN in as few as 18 months with online RN to BSN programs.* And finally, if youre hoping to take your career even further with an MSN, youll need to first earn your BSN and then complete at least another 18 months of schooling to become Masters-qualified.*

This Is My Second Review And I Am

This is my second review and I am closing in on being done at Rasmussen. I have been hesitant to divulge my identity to the people who have reached out from Rasmussen due to the fear of retaliation by instructors. I did have communication at one point and thought I would have a phone conversation, but that has not happened. Regardless, I am nearing the end, thank goodness. Most recently the lack of equitable treatment has been unbelievable. Blaine campus, new instructor, cannot complete skills assessments timely and in the class time . Therefore the balance of the class is being told that anyone who has not completed their skills assessment has less than half the time of those who completed in classes prior. And if the skills assessment isn’t completed prior to the “12 minutes” that those points will be lost. This, after the first half of the class was allowed at least 20 – 25 minutes per person to complete the same assessment. This is likely related to her being a new instructor, first class ever taught, who doesn’t know how to organize the class time. Should this impact the balance of the classes grades inequitably, each student should file an appeal. We all work hard, all pay the same enormous prices, yet due to a disorganized new instructor, some people may be penalized unfairly. This is not exactly unique. The lack of experience/knowledge and responsiveness of some of these instructors is really sad and costly.
