As a graduate of our program, you will be prepared to sit for the NCLEX-RN licensure exam and work in a variety of areas such as hospital, outpatient clinic/office, and community settings. Keep in mind, because youre new to the nursing profession, your first job after graduation will most likely be at the entry-level. You Shouldnt Feel 100% Committed To The Idea Of Law School
This isnt a truth about law school admissions per se, but its a truth about how you should approach it if you want to get the best results. Let me clarify this advice: I dont think anyone should ever approach law school admission with the mindset I am going to law school next year.
The most significant mistake that prospective law students make is to decide, absolutely, before even taking the LSAT, that they are going to law school. They get what I like to call law school tunnel vision. They commit to the idea, and nothing is going to stop them, even if the numbers dont make sense.
Heres what to do instead: If you know you have a keen interest in going to law school do a ton of research on what school options would be acceptable to you. Then, if you are still interested, commit to doing your very best on the LSAT. It may take one or even two retakes. Thats just the nature of the game right now.
Throughout that process, evaluate whether you have the numbers to get into the right school at the right price. If you cant hit your range of acceptable options, you are frequently better off not going, period.
At no point, until you put down your seat deposit, should you feel unable to walk away. Even after that. I know a guy who bailed out on Northwestern Law during his orientation! Hes now happily studying the brain working towards a neuroscience Ph.D. Think of him if you are ever feeling trapped.
Am I Too Old To Earn A Degree In Nursing
Age is never a criterion for admission. You are never too old to pursue your dream career. In fact, because this is a second-degree program, many of our students have spent years in another profession or pursuing other goals, which means the age range for our cohorts often varies. Besides, age is only a numbereveryone in the program has the same goal as you, to become a masters-prepared nurse!

Create Your Nursingcas Profile
To streamline the nursing school application process, Marquette University uses NursingCAS, an online portal that allows prospective students to apply to multiple schools using the same user profile. While your admissions adviser will provide you guidance on when and how to apply for the Direct Entry MSN program in Pleasant Prairie, it doesnt hurt to get a head start by creating an account and familiarizing yourself with the system and requirements. In addition to creating a detailed profile, you will use the NursingCAS portal to submit your official transcripts, resume, statement of goals and GRE General Test results, as well as to request references and more.
Success Tip: Dont short-change yourself. Within the Supporting Information section of your profile, youll be asked to list achievements, experiences, and professional licensures and certifications. Be thorough when filling out this section, as it might just give you the competitive edge you need to get in. We look to see if the applicant has had enough exposure to the field of nursing, says Dr. Muglia. If they have worked as a CNA, patient care technician, medical assistant, etc., that will demonstrate good exposure. Job shadowing is great, but it may be too limited. Did the applicant follow one nurse for one hour, or did they follow 10 different nurses, NPs, etc., for a longer period of time?

Request Your Official Transcripts
Early in the admissions process, you sent your adviser your unofficial transcripts. Now its time to gather your official school transcripts. To ensure you submit your application in time for your desired program start, NursingCAS recommends that you request your official transcripts no later than five weeks prior to the application deadline. For further instructions on this crucial step, review the guidelines for Sending Official Transcripts to NursingCAS.
Whats the difference between official vs. unofficial transcripts?
In addition to requesting your official transcripts, you must also manually input your coursework a common requirement for many health programs.
