Immersive Partnership Between School Of Nursing Yale And Hartford Healthcare

Nurse Anesthesia Program of Hartford – SRNA Program – CRNA Training

The Quinnipiac School of Nursing is collaborating with Hartford Healthcare and Yale New Haven Health System to provide an immersive learning experience to nursing students.

Associate Dean of the Quinnipiac School of Nursing Lisa Rebeschi explained that the collaboration will benefit each of the organizations as students will gain valuable experience while they help supply the high demand of perioperative nurses.

Students across all four years of the nursing program are able to benefit from this partnership. They have the opportunity to learn about the specialty from experts, Rebeschi said. For the organization, this collaboration provides an opportunity for meeting workforce needs and enhancing the readiness for practice in the specialty.

First- and second-year students will have the opportunity to participate in career development workshops and experiential learning activities with the Hartford Healthcare staff while upperclassmen will have access to more advanced workshops, networking opportunities, fellowships and capstone rotations.

The collaboration has seen great success since its inception as Rebeschi explained that nearly all alumni looking for employment have secured professional RN positions at major health care systems.

Manager of the Perioperative Professional Development team Sara Hirx, MSN, RN, CNOR, said that students who may find a passion for perioperative nursing during their time with Hartford Healthcare have large opportunities after graduation.

Message From The President

Taking the helm as president of our Alumnae Association of Hartford Hospital School of Nursing is both an honor and a privilege for which I am most grateful. I accept it as an opportunity to serve the membership so that we may strengthen and preserve the legacy of our beloved Alma Mater.

Hartford Hospital has always been a vital part of my life story: I was born here in 1948 , and after graduating in 1969, stayed for nearly 25 years to build upon my solid nursing education. My career path at HH took me from general medicine, to being chosen as the Head Nurse of the first medical ICU , to then doing 5 years of pulmonary research, leading me to accepting the position of Nursing director of the Emergency Department, and finally to supervising on the off shift while attaining my graduate degree. I left HH in 1991 to begin my next career of nearly 23 years, in Long Term Care and Rehab Nursing, retiring in 2013. I obtained my BA from CCSU in 1975 and my MS from Rensselaer at Hartford in 1991.

In addition to the aforementioned goals, we will continue our membership in the CT Nurses Association and to bringing the Nightingale Pledge to nurses who have passed and await the opening of the Springer garden and the unveiling of the new fountain for which we have a vested interest. I look forward to a very exciting and active year ahead!

It matters greatly, your worthy aim

What Is The Difference Between An Rn And A Bsn

A Registered Nurse is an individual who has earned an associates degree and has passed the National Council Licensure Examination . A BSN is a Bachelor of Science in Nursing, which requires an individual to complete a four-year bachelors degree program in Nursing before passing the NCLEX-RN. Earning a BSN is highly encouraged in the field, as nurses with a BSN are statistically more likely to be hired over those with an associates degree. Additionally, nurses with a BSN tend to make more money than their RN counterparts, making a bachelors program a wiser long-term investment.
