Although she has experience as a critical care nurse, a kidney transplant nurse, and emergency room nurse, the majority of her career has been dedicated to labor, delivery, postpartum, newborn care, and women’s health. As a passionate leader for nursing, Dr. Wood has expanded her expertise to include many leadership and nursing education roles in her 20+ years in nursing. She holds a Bachelor of Science degree from the University of New Hampshire, a Master of Science in Health Systems Leadership from Norwich University, a post-Master’s certificate as a Women’s Health Nurse Practitioner from Duke University, and a Doctor of Nursing Practice from Duke University.

Jessica’s most recent work was for a well-known non-profit organization providing care to women throughout northern New England. Additionally, she has led nursing students to impoverished areas of Nicaragua and continues to practice as a Women’s Health Nurse Practitioner in New England. She is a native Vermonter and loves biking, skiing, hiking, and paddleboarding.

University Of North Carolina At Charlotte

Students at this university in Charlotte can choose from concentrations in adult/gerontology acute care or family nurse practitioner in the MSN program. The two-year adult/gerontology acute care program includes attendance in summer sessions and requires completion of a minimum 600 clinical practicum hours. Courses in health assessment, health policy and planning, advanced care of acutely ill patients, and advanced care and health promotion make up part of the required 47 credit hours in courses.

The Family Nurse Practitioner Across the Lifespan program also includes attendance in summer sessions and features courses such as pharmacotherapuetics, family theory, and primary care for children and adults. An internship is offered in the final summer session. Individuals who already have a Master of Science in Nursing can complete a 21-credit-hour post-master’s certificate program in this concentration. This program requires 600 clock hours of supervised clinical experience.

South College Graduate Healthcare Mba Grant

The South College Graduate Health Care MBA Grant is available to any eligible student who has graduated from a South College Graduate Health Care program . This Grant is effective beginning April 1, 2020. South College reserves the right to discontinue this Grant at its discretion.

Other restrictions/details of the grant are as follows:

  • A South College Graduate Health Care student that has completed the Graduate program may enroll in one class or up to a full-time status in the MBA program.
  • A South College Graduate Health Care student that has completed the Graduate program may complete multiple concentrations in the MBA program, but will only be awarded one MBA degree.
  • Students receiving the South College Graduate Health Care MBA Grant are not eligible to apply Federal Financial Aid funds to their student accounts.

This program provides Tennessee students with scholarship funds from the Tennessee Lottery through the Tennessee HOPE Scholarship, Aspire Award, Tennessee Hope Access Grant, and General Assembly Merit Scholarship.

    Federal Direct Plus Loan For Graduate Students

    This program offers long-term loans to students enrolled at least half-time in a graduate program of study. The loan is not based upon financial need however, the borrower must meet the credit approval criteria for the Direct GradPLUS loan program.

    Direct GradPLUS loan funds are borrowed directly from the U.S. Department of Education. Interest begins to accrue as each disbursement is made. Repayment begins after the loan is fully disbursed however, the student may request deferment of repayment while enrolled at least half-time.
