Overall campus life is good and there is always something to do around campus. People are super welcoming and are super excited to get to know new people.They provide great opportunities for their students and care about their students success, especially the professors.

At time the campus can be very clicky because it is so small and they do not offer a huge variety of places to eat on campus. They also do not offer a huge variety of majors to choose from.

Concordia is a small private university and the community is welcoming.

It is a little expensive but the quality of education is worth it.

Concordia University is a rather small school which I see as an advantage. There are smaller classrooms that allow more one on one time with teachers and are better for those who cant focus in large classrooms. My experience is that there is social life but 9 times out of 10 they are to help with school work, it is very helpful being in a school that cares so much about your academic standing.

It is very small so it doesnt have football teams or any major events like public schools do. It is very educationally focused so if you are seeking fun college parties and tailgate seasons Concordia will not be a good choice.

Ive been a doula for the last seven years. The whole reason I got into nursing was to become a labor and delivery nurse and eventually become a midwife. If I wanted, I could go right into my DNP program. But I want the experience of a nurse, and I want to practice that mindset and see what its like in the room and just wear hat for a while.

Whats Your Why For Nursing Why Did You Decide To Go Back To School

I actually worked at a hospital as a doula, which is a really rare thing. Through that, working with the team on the unit and getting to know more nurses and midwives and OBs in a teamwork, intimate setting I wanted to be a deeper part of that team.

And I felt myself bumping up against the scope of practice of my doula work. I wanted to participate in more of a medical way and show up in the room in a different way that my scope of practice as a doula wouldnt allow me to do. felt like a natural progression.

So, part of what I want to do in the future, too, is be a part of research and eventually teach nursing students or midwifery students and sit on committees. So not just bedside nursing.

What Is Your Biggest Tip For Future Absn Students

Acknowledging that this is hard and its not going to be easy for me was the first step. Then finding that study buddy who took it as seriously as I did and was down to meet every day and really dive in and get to business.

Im not here just to pass classes, which has been a lot of peoples college mindset. But were actually here to learn a specific job and to be really good at that job, and honoring the responsibility of what it is to be a nurse and improve peoples lives and bodies and mental health. Approaching the coursework with that mentality makes it accessible in a different way, and it actually sticks in my brain better too.

WESTCHESTER COUNTY, N.Y. Initiated earlier this year, an agreement has been finalized for Iona College to acquire Concordia Colleges 28-acre campus in Bronxville, N.Y. Concordia will cease academic instruction before the start of the Fall 2021 semester.

The announcement sets the stage for Iona to pursue plans for a school of health sciences on the Concordia campus, furthering Ionas strategic investment in the field and building upon Concordias legacy of excellence in health science education. The deal also creates opportunities for Iona to introduce new student programming in the performing arts, varsity and club athletics and other extracurricular activities, areas where Iona has successfully been engaging students around shared interests.
