TWIN FALLS, Idaho -Many of those working in the health care industry on the front lines of the battle against COVID-19, may have passed through the College of Southern Idahos practical nursing program, and thats the topic of this weeks From Learning to Leading.

Licensed practical nurses work in long-term care facilities, physician offices and rural hospitals.

It takes 11 months to become certified through the CSI program, and the college told KMVT there is a lot of demand for this occupation right now.

Currently this program has a 100% placement rate for students who graduate and finish the program.

I have a lot of health care facilities around the community reach out to me looking to hire LPNs, said Tammy Pehrson practical nursing program. They are not afraid to hire new grads. So they will take them and train them, and so they can get a job once they complete the program and pass the exam.

Licensed Practical Nursing To Asnp

The deadline for Fall candidacy is May 6th by 12:00 p.m. Spring candidacy is November 15th.The ASNP attempts to accept four applicants each Fall and Spring semester. Given the competitive nature and rigor of the program, acceptance is ranked according to the criteria identified on the Traditional ASNP Admission Score Sheet. There is not a waitlist applicants not accepted will need to reapply.All applicants must possess a current LPN license any state accepted.

The LPN to ASNP completion requires 65 credits 40 required non-nursing and 25 nursing, see LPN to ASNP Academic Plan. Pre-requisites must be completed prior to application, whereas co-requisites may be completed prior to or during the identified semester students are not allowed to progress in the program if co-requisites are not completed prior or during the identified semester. All required non-nursing and nursing courses must be completed with a “C” or better, see ASNP Students Handbook related to the percentage qualifying as a C while in the ASNP.

Required math and science courses must be completed within the last five years.

The LPN to ASNP Application and identified documents, on the application form, must be submitted at the time of application or the application will not be processed.

1 Priority registration is limited to continuing students. Students are assigned a registration time based upon their cumulative credits earned.
