Health And Science Center
The Health and Science Center was funded by the proceeds of the 2002 capital referendum and opened in 2010. The center houses the Basic Nursing Assistant, Dental Hygiene, Diagnostic Medical Imaging, Health Science, Nuclear Medicine, Nursing, Physical Therapist Assistant, Radiography, Respiratory Care, Surgical Technology, Anatomy and Physiology, Microbiology, Biology, Chemistry, Zoology and Botany programs. The HSC also houses a Nursing Simulation and Long-Term care lab, Dental Hygiene lab and Surgical Technology operating room lab. The building received LEED Gold certification.
Job Description And Career Opportunities
RNs provide direct care and treatment for patients, supervise, and work as members of interdisciplinary teams in a variety of health care settings, including hospitals, home health services, nursing homes, rehabilitation centers, ambulatory clinics and physicians’ offices. Bedside services that RNs provide include injections, blood transfusions, intravenous feedings and dispensing of medications. BSNs also work in the public schools, in supervisory/managerial positions in nursing, and in the health department where they perform comprehensive health appraisals and provide patient education.
To practice as an RN, individuals must graduate from an accredited two-year associate degree program or four-year baccalaureate program and pass the national licensing examination. An RN must have a baccalaureate degree for employment as a public health nurse or school nurse, and for most supervisory/managerial positions at the unit manager level and above.
The employment outlook for RNs in all settings is excellent due to the prevailing shortage of nursing personnel.

How Do I Apply For The 3+1 In Nursing
Once you have made the decision to pursue the 3+1 Nursing program with either Benedictine University or Governors State University, you need to fill out the “3+1 Program Application”.
- This form can be found in the office of Admissions and Outreach and soon will be on the Admissions website.
- This application ensures you are receiving the most up-to-date information for anything related to the 3+1 Nursing programs.
After you have been accepted into College of DuPage’s Associate Degree Nursing program and you are approximately a semester away from completing the program, you need to submit an admission application to either Benedictine University or Governors State University for their Bachelor of Science in Nursing degree program, and follow their application process.

Associate Degrees For Transfer
College of the Desert offers Associate Degrees for Transfer across a variety of disciplines. The Associate in Art for Transfer and the Associate in Science for Transfer degrees are two-year associate degrees that are fully transferable to the CSU and are no more than 60 semester units. When you complete an Associate Degree for Transfer sometimes called a Degree with a Guarantee and meet the CSUs minimum eligibility requirements, you are guaranteed priority admission to CSU, though not necessarily to a particular campus or major.
Robert J Miller Homeland Security Education Center
Phase one of the Homeland Security Education Center was funded by the proceeds of the 2002 capital referendum and completed in 2011. It houses the Criminal Justice program, the Fire Science/EMS program, the Suburban Law Enforcement Academy and the COD police department.
The center has an Immersive Interior Training Lab, forensics and cybercrimes labs, an auditorium that doubles as a mock courtroom, a self-contained breathing apparatus lab, and a debriefing room.
The center also includes a Memorial to the in the form of several exhibits in its lobby with the centerpiece being a steel beam recovered from the towers.

College Of Dupage Nursing Program Review
The College of DuPage in Glen Ellyn, Illinois is enormous, enrolling over 30,000 students each semester in over 100 different programs. Available programs include associate degrees, certificates, and pre-baccalaureate programs. The College of DuPage prides itself on monitoring trends in business, at both the regional and the national level, and establishing programs that prepare students to meet those new trends.
No field changes more rapidly than the healthcare field, and the College of DuPage prepares students to meet the challenges through a variety of programs, including several in the field of nursing. The programs are accredited by the National League for Nursing Accrediting Commission.
Practical Nursing Certificate
The Practical Nursing Certificate program at the College of DuPage prepares students for entry-level work as Licensed Nurse Practitioners or for further nursing education through the Associate Degree in Nursing program. Prior to beginning the program, a student must take anatomy/physiology and psychology, and be a Certified Nurse Assistant . The program begins each spring, continues through the summer semester, and wraps up in the fall. A graduate is eligible to take the National Council Licensing Exam for Practical Nurses .

How To Prepare For The Hesi Exam For Lpns
The associate’s degree in nursing is a two-year program and the minimum amount of study required to become licensed as a registered nurse . Many community colleges and vocational schools across the county offer the ADN program, including the College of DuPage, a community college in DuPage County, Illinois. There are several admission requirements for the College of DuPage nursing program, including two applications and an admission assessment exam.
Drug Screening And Background Checks
The affiliation agreements with the clinical facilities, regulated by The Joint Commission , require that all students have a clear drug screening and background check prior to each clinical rotation. If not, the student may not be allowed to participate in patient care at a clinical agency, which would prevent the student from completing the nursing program.
Students are advised that an acceptable background check done for the clinical facilities does not guarantee the background check conducted by State Boards at the time of application for licensure or certification will be found acceptable. Background checks displaying discrepancies will be reviewed by the Nursing Director and facility assigned to determine if you are eligible to continue within the program.
In addition to screening prior to the start of each clinical experience, students may be subject to testing for cause such as slurred speech, impaired physical coordination, inappropriate behavior, or pupillary changes.
All students must also be medically screened, prior to the first day of clinical. The screening will include a physical examination, TB testing, flu shot, blood tests which show definitive immunity to communicable disease, and drug and alcohol screening.
Students who do not clear the screenings will be unable to complete clinicals.
Students are responsible for all associated fees.

Cod Nursing Program Admission Criteria
After you have applied for general admission to the College of DuPage, you must also apply to the Associate Degree Nursing Program. Complete the Health Sciences Limited Enrollment Program Application online and pay the non-refundable $50 fee by credit or debit card. Select your start date, i.e., “Fall 2019” from the drop-down box. Under “What Health Sciences Limited Enrollment program are you applying to?” select “Associate Degree Nursing Degree” from the drop-down box.
Priority admission policy
Priority admission for the COD nursing program is given to in-district residents who meet the minimum acceptance criteria for the program. Next, out-of-district applicants who work full-time in-district are given priority over out-of-district applicants, students with a cooperative agreement and international students.
Proof of residency
Students who live within Community College District 502 for at least 30 days before the Health Science program application deadline date are classified as in-district residents of the College of DuPage district. If you’re not sure if you live in District 502, visit cod.edu/residency/ for clarification.
Culinary And Hospitality Center
The Culinary and Hospitality Center was completed in 2011. The center houses kitchens and bakeries, a six-room boutique Hotel run by students of the Hospitality program, two gourmet restaurants open to the public, a culinary amphitheater and the colleges TV station and video production departments. Waterleaf, one of the restaurant the center houses, serves brunch, lunch and dinner on Monday, Thursday and Sunday. Tuesday and Wednesdays students in the College of DuPage Culinary Program take over the restaurant space and provide their own brand of cooking and dinner service.

What Courses Do I Need To Take Before I Can Apply To The Adn Program

The Mcaninch Arts Center
The McAninch Arts Center was built in 1986, and is named after the college’s second president. The center has three performing spaces and gallery space for professionals, faculty, and student exhibits. A $35 million renovation to the center was completed in 2013. The renovation updated the major performance spaces, addressed significant infrastructure needs and improved several academic program areas. The MAC houses the 780-seat proscenium Belushi Performance Hall, the 186-seat soft-thrust playhouse theater and the 70-seat black box studio theater. It also houses the Cleve Carney Art Museum, classrooms for the college’s academic programming and the 1,200 capacity outdoor Lakeside Pavilion. The facility has presented theater, music, dance and visual art to more than 1.5 million people since opening in 1986.
