Excellent And Beautiful Facilities
My wife and I have been residents in the Independent Living Menger House Apartments at Morningside Ministries at Menger Springs for four years. We chose Menger Springs because of its Hill Country location, excellent and beautiful facilities along with their commitment to personal care and to truly care for those who have cared for so many others by a Not For Profit Christian Corporation. We knew that regardless of what challenges or changes we might meet in the days and years ahead, Menger Springs would be able to provide the care for us. My wife feels so secure here and has the option of participating in so many activities, pursue individual endeavors or to feel free to remain in our apartment. We are so pleased to be residents at Morningside Ministries Menger Springs in beautiful Boerne! I highly recommend it!
Security Convenience And Caring
I learned about Morningside Ministries at Menger Springs when two of my neighbors moved there. Another friend and I frequently drove from our home in Kerrville to visit and play bridge with them. I don’t think we ever left that one of us didn’t say ” I’d like to live here someday.” When I realized that “someday” was fast approaching I started visiting retirement communities in several places, including my former home in Colorado where I still had close friends. None of them were as attractive physically as Morningside and none offered as much in the way of programs and services. I chose Morningside for three basic reasons: security, convenience and the sense of a caring community. I have the security of knowing that I will always be cared for, the convenience of having all my needs met in one place and the joy of living in a community where everyone, residents and staff, are considered as family.

Chelsea Jewish Nursing Home
This major renovation of a 30-year-old skilled nursing facility in Chelsea, MA revitalizes the environment for residents receiving long-term care, short-term rehabilitation, and specialized memory care.
The challenge was to transform the existing traditional nursing home to incorporate the most essential and successful components of its sister community and first urban Greenhouse® community, the Leonard Florence Center for Living. Through an occupied, phased renovation, the existing building was renovated and modernized. In each nursing household of 20 residents, new light-filled living and dining rooms open to a residential-scale kitchen in which all meals are prepared.
Residential common amenities, including a new café and chapel, offer residents and families opportunities for social and spiritual gathering. A new physical and occupational therapy suite provide up to date rehabilitative services.
The building exterior was redesigned and refaced with fenestration reflecting the new living, dining and activity spaces The renovation resulted in significant operational cost savings with high performance replacement windows and the conversion of the existing all-electric hot water and HVAC equipment to new energy-efficient gas powered systems.

Residents Of Chelsea Nursing Home Have Died After Testing Positive For Covid
A Chelsea-based nursing home group says 11 of its residents have died after testing positive for the coronavirus.
Chelsea Jewish Lifecare says 117 residents have tested positive so far at its locations in Chelsea, Peabody and Winthrop. An additional 40 employees have tested positive.
“Never in the 100-year history of Chelsea Jewish Lifecare have we faced a situation like this one,” the nursing home said in a statement. “Despite all our best efforts and preparation, the COVID-19 pandemic facing the world has found its way within the walls of some of our facilities. Even more troubling, we now understand how pervasive the virus in our surrounding communities has become due to how swift and silent its spread has been.”
The facility says it followed guidance from the state Department of Public Health and other local officials “to take aggressive steps to prevent the spread of the virus,” including creating an isolation unit for residents who test positive and assigning a separate team to care for those residents. It also says it implemented a universal mask policy, increased monitoring and asked staff with symptoms to self-quarantine.
Despite those steps, the nursing home says “limited access to testing and overly restrictive criteria to test” hampered its efforts to slow the spread of the virus.
As of the statement on Saturday, 251 residents and 103 employees were tested.

Jgs Lifecare And Chelsea Jewish Lifecare Announce Affiliation
JGS Lifecare , a leading health care system serving seniors and their families in western Massachusetts, and Chelsea Jewish Lifecare , a highly respected leader in senior living with campuses in Chelsea and Peabody, Massachusetts, today announced their intention to affiliate.
Our organizations are similar and like-minded in many regards, said Susan Goldsmith, chair of the board for JGS Lifecare. Both are centenarian institutions that have been serving seniors for over 100 years. We are both non-profit, faith-based and founded on Jewish principles while serving people of all faiths.
She continued, We also offer the same spectrum of services, including skilled nursing, long-term care, short-term rehabilitation, home health and hospice, assisted living, independent living, and adult day health care. Above all, our commitment to providing the best possible care for our elderly community is the driving force behind both institutions and all we do.
Adam Berman, president of Chelsea Jewish Lifecare, agreed. Affiliating our two organizations makes a great deal of sense at this time. CJL and JGS share the same mission, philosophy, values and goals. We both strive to provide the highest possible quality of care. For us, this common synergy is the key to a long and successful relationship.

To receive a five-star rating, nursing homes are judged by three components. Health inspections are one means of evaluating a residence. The rating is based upon information from the last three years of onsite inspections, including both standard surveys and complaint surveys. Secondly, a rating is given based upon staffing, which details information about the number of hours of care provided on average to each resident each day by nursing staff and other healthcare providers. The final category involves quality measures, which includes data on how well nursing homes are caring for their residents physical and clinical needs.
Today the five-star rating system has become a critical tool for the public to measure the quality and performance of a skilled nursing facility. Nursing homes with five stars are considered well above average quality. Adds CJLs Berman, In reality, we work very hard, day in and day out, to achieve and maintain these five-star ratings. We are so proud of our staff at each of the three residences.
