An associates degree in nursing may be the lowest-level nursing credential, but it still qualifies you to take the necessary exams to become a Registered Nurse . Once you pass and have earned this designation, you can officially call yourself a nurse.
RNs handle a lot of the day-to-day logistics of caring for patients. Including feeding them, bathing them, and generally checking in on them. When it comes to salary, again, bear in mind that this includes RNs with a bachelors who typically receive higher pay than their counterparts with an associates.
You’ll Need To Complete Prereqs
The good thing about already having a general degree in health science is that you probably already have a lot of the prerequisites you need for nursing school.

To make matters more complicated, some states will allow an individual to begin practicing as an RN after having earned an associates degree in nursing, with the stipulation that the individual earn a bachelors degree within a certain window of time. New York, for example, follows a law that is known colloquially as BSN in 10. This law states that RNs who have only earned their associates degree must complete a BSN within 10 years of obtaining their initial RN license in order to continue as a registered nurse.
