Perspective Of An Acnp Teaching An Agacnp Program
I was originally educated as a clinical nurse specialist in critical care. When the ACNP role was developed, I returned to graduate school to learn advanced nursing practice skills for individual patients. I earned my ACNP certification and licensure after completing my PhD, subsequently blending direct care with a program of research that has been informed by advanced practice nursing. It has been amazing to see early and progressive mobility, which is my program of research and practice passion, become embedded in order sets and guidelines for the care of patients in acute and intensive care units. I now educate NP students who are also committed to delivering optimal care to patients who are physiologically unstable, technologically dependent and/or are highly vulnerable to complications.1 Now, the designation is Adult-Gerontology Acute Care Nurse Practitioners . The NPs with this population focus continue to provide compassionate, time-sensitive and team-based care in a variety of settings. What Does An Fnp Do

How To Become An Ag
Acute care nurse practitioners must hold an unencumbered RN license and earn an advanced degree from a nationally or regionally accredited school to practice. AG-ACNP nursing programs want to see applicants who possess experience working with adult-gerontology patients in acute care settings. Programs may require a minimum of 2 years or ICU experience or postanesthesia care unit experience in order to be admitted.
Instead, NPs must specialize in adult-gerontology and focus on acute care. Graduates must pass the exam offered by the ANCC or the AANP. AG-ACNPs must renew their license every five years, which requires continuing education requirements. Students should also research state-specific requirements for licensure and renewal.
Fnp Vs Acnp: Which Is Best

AG-ACNPs care for patients in acute care settings, emergency rooms, and trauma units. They focus on caring for the adult population with complex diseases.
Their expertise lies in providing advanced acute and chronic care services to adults and the elderly, often in high-acuity settings with complex patient care requirements. Besides managing patient care, AG-ACNPs may need to implement invasive procedures to stabilize patients, which could include intubation.

The Adult Gerontology Acute Care Nurse Practitioner Program is designed for nurses who are looking to advance their career in a fast-paced, dynamic work environment. AGACNP’s work with adult and elderly patients who have acute, chronic and critical conditions. Given these circumstances, AGACNPs work in collaboration with others in the medical field to provide the best care for their patients while continually evaluating the patients condition.
Malone’s AGACNP Program prepares nurses to be able to move on to the next level of nursing and take on new, exciting responsibilities. The curriculum of the AGACNP Program includes coursework, lab time, and internships, all of which are completed in two years. Classes are offered both online and on-campus, with on-campus courses held just one night a week in order to accommodate the work and personal schedules of students.

Adult Gerontology Acute Care Nurse Practitioner Certificate Post Masters Program
Middle Georgia State University and the Office of Graduate Studies are pleased to announce a Post-Masters Certificate in Adult Gerontology Acute Care Nurse Practitioner. This new credential is housed in the School of Health and Natural Sciences and is administered by the Department of Nursing.
The 19-hour certificate includes three courses of fully online instruction and is suitable for Advanced Practice Registered Nurses who are certified in other population foci to receive the necessary professional skills and knowledge to sit for AGACNP certification. The three required courses are NURS 5400 Adult/Gero Acute Care I , NURS 6400 Adult/Gero Acute Care II and NURS 6500 Adult/Gero Acute Care III .
Application materials include an updated résumé, one letter of recommendation , an unofficial transcript of a masters degree, and a copy of a Georgia nursing license and APRN certification. Application materials are accepted immediately by the Office of Graduate Studies at or at 478.929.6865. The final deadline for requested materials is April 30, 2022.

How To Become A Pnp
Becoming a PNP-AC requires an advanced nursing degree. Both an MSN and DNP typically require at least two years of full-time attendance. Students may want to consider bridge programs that offer accelerated coursework, such as a BSN-to-DNP program.
Graduates must pass a licensing exam. Unlike FNPs and AG-ACNPs, aspiring PNP-ACs can only complete the Acute Care Certified Pediatric Nurse Practitioner Exam offered through the Pediatric Nursing Certification Board. PNP-ACs need to renew their license every three years. Renewal also requires nearly 440 hours of direct care and at least 100 continuing education points.
