Tips For Getting Accepted Into An Accelerated Bsn Program
Accelerated programs can be highly competitive due to limited seating as well as a high number of applicants. These 3 tips will help you stand out.
Many nurses who have completed their BSN as a second degree feel that this was a good investment. The life experience that you bring to the program and to the profession of nursing is especially needed when treating a wide range of patients.
Option : Reevaluate Your Plans And Consider Other Programs
While you do have the option to try as many times as youd like, reaching the score youd prefer by a slim margin after several tries might still be a sign that the road ahead in that program could be a rocky one. Vest cautions that the point of the TEAS exam isnt to create an artificial barrier, but to truly evaluate students preparedness for a nursing program.
In most cases we would prefer students to not take the TEAS several times because the purpose of the test is to make sure they can be successful students, Vest says.
If you reach a point where youre feeling unsure about the road forward, take some time to reevaluate. Are you satisfied enough with your current employment situation to forego a college education entirely? What was it about this program that appealed to you? Would you be satisfied in a different healthcare-focused program or profession?
If youre willing to consider a different degree program, there are several options worth looking into that may not require a TEAS exam score. For example, you can still have a positive impact on patients as a medical assistant or pharmacy technician.
Additionally, there may be programs or offerings that allow you to complete foundational coursework before focusing on a specialized educational track. An advisor can help walk you through your optionsso dont be afraid to reach out if youre considering other programs.

What Makes It Easier To Get Into A Nursing School Compared To Another
Generally, the admission process affects how hard it is to get into one school as compared to another.
There are other factors that can affect enrollment, though, such as:
- Number of applicants compared to seats available. If there are 2,000 applicants but only 100 seats available, competition will likely be fierce. Nursing schools with no waiting list and fewer applicants are often easier to get into.
- Multiple entrance dates. Some schools offer program admission two or three times a year, rather than just once. This can increase your chances of acceptance.
- Admission support. Looking for schools that offer help from admissions counselors can be beneficial. They can help you through the entire admissions process and help make it easier to get accepted.
- The school location and popularity. Applying to a school that is less popular or in a location that has a high demand for nurses can give you a better chance of getting in.
Researching each school you are interested in before applying can help you prepare for the admission process and know which schools you a more likely to be accepted into.

At this time, we cannot confirm that the Ron and Kathy Assaf College of Nursing Bachelor of Science in Nursing program meets the educational requirements for professional licensure in other states or territories outside of Florida. Although Florida law indicates that educational requirements are met if the student graduates from an accredited program, students must check with the state in which they are seeking licensure for any additional requirements.
Students may also apply for a multi-state license if their home state is part of the nurse licensure compact. The Nurse Licensure Compact allows a nurse to have a multistate license to practice in their home state and other approved compact states .
All 50 states in the United States use the same licensing exam, the NCLEX-RN and all states have the same standard for passing. The exam is computer adapted and graded a pass/fail. .

Nursing Options For High School Graduates
If all you have is your high school certification, then here are a few options to jumpstart your nursing career and help you learn the ropes of basic healthcare. You can choose to apply for an Associate Degree Nursing program that does not require prerequisites, such as the ones provided by Heartland Community College in Illinois or St. Lukes College in Iowa. All of these entail up to 5 semesters and allow you to complete the recommended general education classes and nursing training simultaneously. Moreover, this is a great opportunity even if you have a Bachelors Degree in a non-nursing specialty and want to change career paths, as the classes are built on one another in order to ensure consistency and continuity in the curriculum.
If youve studied biology and chemistry in high school, then you also have the option of obtaining an ADN from the Catawaba Community College in North Carolina or the St. Francis University in Fort Wayne or Crown Point. In addition, you can apply for a 2 year program at the Dakota Wesleyan University in order to receive an Associate of Arts in Nursing diploma. This program is unique because it allows you to complete the prerequisite classes during 2 summer semesters, after youve finished your traditional fall to spring nursing training. So if you have to hold down a job while studying or you find that preparing for both types of courses is too overwhelming and draining, then this might be a viable solution for you.
