Clinical Education And Simulation Lab
- During a high-fidelity simulation, a faculty member provides remote support to nursing students to guide them through a variety of clinical scenarios.
- Telepresence robots like this one are used for remote monitoring in CESiLs home-care suite as well as in the growing home healthcare field. They enhance both nursing and healthcare informatics students educational experience.
- For College of Nursing and Public Health nursing students, learning in the various CESiL simulated settings and situations is like training in a real hospital. That experience was especially invaluable in the midst of the pandemic, nursing students said.
- Here, a cohort of students addresses an emergency code situation with a high-fidelity manikin and gains experience in electronic medical record processes. Various manikins, supportive supplies and state-of-the-art equipment enable faculty and students to translate theory into practice.
- Faculty use this pediatric manikin to train their students in everything from routine to emergency experiences. When used with an obesity suit, the manikin enables nurses to learn about the treatment of child obesity, a growing problem in the 6-to-9 age bracket.
- Victoria, a high-fidelity maternal simulator manikin, arrived at CESiL with two baby manikins in March 2019able to simulate a complete range of situations that nurses may face in the delivery room, from typical neonatal care to obstetric emergencies.

What Are The Important Differences Between Accelerated Nursing Programs
The objective of every accelerated nursing program is giving students the coursework and training they need to practice nursing in the shortest time possible. Every accelerated nursing program offers a fast-track degree. But there are nuances between accelerated nursing programs that make a difference for choosing the right program.
- BA or BS? Some programs dont care about their students undergraduate majors. A BA in any field may be fine. Other programs expect their students already to hold a BS in a science field.
- Start date. Most US academic programs start sometime between the middle of August and the first week of October, depending on the part of the country where the courses are held. Accelerated nursing programs tend to start in January or October, although summer start dates are also popular.
- Online or on-campus? Some highly motivated students dont have any trouble learning essential nursing concepts from online classes. They will still need to go to campus or a teaching hospital for their clinical work, but they dont need to go to a physical classroom for their didactic work. Some students learn better in person-to-person interaction. These students should opt for brick-and-mortar classes with professors they see in person and students with whom they can more easily form relationships.
No matter what your undergraduate degree, you will need to have completed some accelerated nursing program prerequisites.
Heres a sample list of accelerated BSN prerequisites.

Criminal Background Check Policy
All nursing students will be required to complete a series of clinical learning experiences in order to successfully meet the learning outcomes for a given program of study. Prior to participating in clinical learning experiences at any off-campus healthcare facility, students are required to complete a criminal background check and a drug test. Each clinical facility has policies regarding possible convictions and potential drug use that may bar students from being accepted at the facility for clinical placement. If a student is not accepted to an assigned placement because of the findings of a background check or drug screen, NYU Meyers does not guarantee an alternate clinical placement. College policy dictates that students who are unable to complete clinical requirements for any reason will be subject to dismissal from the program.
The process of obtaining a nursing license in New York and many other states may involve consideration of an applicants criminal history or other conduct . Criminal convictions and/or a record of certain other conduct may prevent a nursing student/graduate from being licensed and may preclude the nursing graduate from obtaining gainful employment as a nurse. Applicants to NYU Meyers are encouraged to determine, prior to matriculation, the licensure requirements in the state in which they intend to practice.
