With an outstanding national reputation earned over more than a century, the College of Nursing traces its history to 1898 and was the first College of Nursing in Tennessee. Housed in the resource-rich environment of an urban medical campus, the College of Nursing offers a highly-educated, research-oriented faculty with a focus on developing nursing leaders. The College currently offers a 12-month, second-degree accelerated BSN program, a traditional, four-semester BSN program, and a Doctor of Nursing Practice program with eight concentrations and three dual DNP concentrations. License Renewal In Tennessee
Tennessee registered nurses must renew their licenses every two years. The Board of Nursing sends out renewal notices at least 45 days before the nursing license expires, but it is the responsibility of nurses to ensure their license is renewed on time, even if notification is not received. Nurses are able to renew their license up to 60 days before they expire. The fee for renewal is $100.

The Nursing Program at Dyersburg State Community College prepares students to assume the role of a beginning practitioner in healthcare. The school offers a traditional nursing track for persons who are new to nursing. Licensed Practical Nurses who hold a valid and current license may apply to the Advanced Standing LPN-RN Fast Track Nursing Program. The program facilitates working LPNs who will begin the program in May and complete it in one year. A one-year paramedic-RN program is also available for paramedics. Program graduates will be eligible to take the National Council Licensure Examination for licensure as a Registered Nurse. The traditional evening track admits 24 students every other fall semester. Why Should I Complete An Accelerated Nursing Program In Tennessee
Accelerated nursing programs are specifically geared toward students who have already earned a bachelors degree in something else. If you have already proven you ability to manage time, study effectively and retain knowledge, and are hoping to become a nurse, this may be the program for you. If you have your bachelors you likely already taken most foundational courses in a bachelors degree program.
This means that if you complete a 4 year BSN program, you will repeat a lot of classes. While there may be some science pre-requisites to complete, almost all courses in an accelerated nursing program are focused specifically on the skills needed to be an RN. When you finish the program you will have your BSN and be a highly sought after nurse. You will have the training and skills to complete the NCLEX-RN exam and work in almost any clinical setting.
Additionally, if you are an LPN and are hoping to earn your BSN you do not need to take 4 years of classes. There are accelerated programs for you too! These are called LPN to BSN programs, but unlike the accelerated programs were discussing here you DO NOT need to have your Bachelors degree to enter them, but you do need to be licensed as an LPN. These programs are shorter than 4 years but slightly longer than RN to BSN programs. During 4-5 semester program you will complete the foundational courses to earn your BSN as well as additional nursing courses.

Comprehensive Health Academy of Tennessee provides a flexible schedule for students that want to be eligible to write the state certification exam.
